Richard Knott, stated within his supporting Urban Design report that “once constructed, the facility will align with the greater population enabled by the Residential Mixed Housing Urban AUP(OP) zoning of the surrounding area. The proposed redevelopment will provide an important facility for local residents and assist with achieving a vibrant, mixed age community. It’s location, which is easy to access from the surrounding residential development and which is close to the existing shops, will provide a focus for local residents and will assist with the creation of a sense of place. The central location of the development, on a key route will ensure that it will be easily accessible by foot, reducing the reliance on private car use and encouraging positive sustainability and health outcomes”.
